Several years ago, the department began paying officers longevity pay. This incentive rewards officers for their experience as they reach certain anniversary markers in their careers. The information below covers an officer over a 35 year period of employment with the Columbus Police Department. Officers receive a 1 percent increase to their annual salary once they reach each anniversary marker listed below. Additional pay increases are considered each year during the budget review process. All annual pay increases are subject to approval by city council.
